If you are living in Florida and reaching your senior years, it is a good time to consider age-related eye and vision problems. Seniors are more likely to suffer from certain eye diseases and vision issues. Fortunately, here at Sevigny Associates Eye Care, we provide senior eye exams and treatments to help relieve eye pain.
As you get older your eyes begin to lose lubrication and elasticity. As a result, you are more prone to develop eye conditions and diseases associated with a lack of fluids to keep your eyes clean. In addition, after the age of 20, we all experience slowly progressing vision decline. Once you reach your retirement age you may notice that you need vision correction through contacts or eyeglasses even if your vision was 20/20 as a young adult.
There are several eye diseases that are most common to seniors. These include glaucoma, cataracts, and age-related macular degeneration. In addition, if you are diagnosed with diabetes, you need to be monitored for diabetic retinopathy associated with this disease.
You should visit our eye doctor at least once a year to receive a comprehensive eye exam. However, if you have an eye disease or vision issue, you may need to visit our optometrist every six months or a more frequent basis. Our eye doctor will work with you to determine how often you will need an eye exam, glaucoma testing, or vision services.
Whether you are new to Florida or need to find a new eye doctor, we want to assist you with your senior vision care. Contact Sevigny Associates Eye Care at 863-773-3322 to schedule aging eye care services and eye exams. We have four locations in Florida including Wauchula, Sebring, Arcadia, and Lake Placid to best serve your vision care needs.
