Contact Lens Exams

View Video

Patients interested in contact lenses must first undergo a comprehensive vision evaluation conducted by a qualified optometrist. This evaluation is used to determine if contact lenses are needed and appropriate for the patient's condition.

Corrective Lens Evaluations with our Wauchula, Arcadia, and Sebring Optometrists

Sevigny & Associates Eye Care strives to meet all the vision care needs of its patients in the Wauchula, Sebring & Arcadia area. If you're interested in contact lenses, call our Wauchula, Arcadia or Sebring eye clinic today for an evaluation. After the evaluation is complete, our optometrist will discuss the types of contact lenses that we have available to fit your needs.

contact_lens_for_eyeVision problems such as near sightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism are classified as a refractive error. Before the evaluation for corrective lenses can begin, our optometrist will determine what type of refractive error you suffer from and which level of vision correction is best for you.

The type and severity of refractive error that you suffer from is determined through a variety of tests conducted with a phoropter and a retinoscope. The optometrist will place a series of lenses in front of your eyes and measure how your eyes focus on the light from the retinoscope.

Once the refractive error has been determined, then the evaluation for corrective lenses can begin. Not all patients are good candidates for contact lenses. If you suffer from frequent eye infections, dry eyes and allergies, contact lenses may not be the best option for you. During the contact lens evaluation, our Wauchula, Arcadia, and Sebring optometrists will determine whether or not contact lenses are right for your condition.

We have contact Lenses to Match the Needs of our Patients

Contact lenses come in a variety of forms to meet the needs of different patients. Contact lenses may be soft or rigid gas permeable. Soft contact lenses are comfortable for many patients. They don't last as long as rigid gas permeable contacts, but they provide the level of correction that many patients require.

Rigid gas permeable contact lenses are highly durable and can last for a very long time, with proper care. Patients with astigmatism sometimes require rigid gas permeable contacts in order to achieve the necessary level of vision correction. Rigid gas permeable contacts can provide bifocal correction to those who need it.

In addition to standard corrective contact lenses, cosmetic contacts are available for those patients who seek to camouflage color variations and irregularities of the eye. Cosmetic contact lenses are also available for those who simply wish to adjust their appearance and transform their natural eye color.
